The fundamentals do not change with the season. What changes is how much hydration, moisture and protection your skin is asking for.
I do not believe in completely changing your skincare routine just because the season changes. The fundamentals stay the same year round. Cleanse, treat, hydrate and protect.
What I do pay attention to in the fall is what my skin needs as the weather changes.
Hydration and moisture come first
The biggest thing I look at is hydration and moisture. Cooler air, wind and indoor heat all contribute to dryness and dehydration, so depending on your skin type, this is when I may add more hydration or a richer moisturizer into the routine.

For added hydration
Hyalogy P-effect Refining Lotion
This addresses hydration at a cellular level, binds more moisture to the skin and helps prevent transepidermal water loss. Forlle'd fragments hyaluronic acid small enough to travel further into the skin than a conventional HA can, which is the whole argument for the line.
If the skin needs more moisture and barrier support, I choose between the two SENTÉ creams depending on how dry or depleted it actually is.

Dry and reactive
Dermal Repair Cream
The everyday choice when skin is dry or reactive but not depleted. Heparan Sulfate Analog supports the natural repair process, and it hydrates without sitting heavy on the skin.

Depleted and retinoid treated
Dermal Repair Ultra-Nourish
The step up when the skin is genuinely depleted. Ceramides with omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids replenish the lipids the barrier is made of, with more substantial nourishment behind them.
A weekly professional grade treatment

Once a week
CO2LIFT® PRO
I love adding a weekly carboxy mask through the fall. It is one of my favorite ways to give the skin a professional grade treatment at home while nourishing and revitalizing it at the same time.
Beyond the topical routine
Fall is a good time to think about what is happening beyond what you apply. Essential fatty acids support the skin from within, and that belongs in the bigger skin health conversation.

From the inside
EFA+
Essential fatty acids to support the barrier from within. No topical routine fully compensates for what is missing underneath it, and this is the season the difference shows.
Protect the skin from the environment
One thing that does not get talked about enough is protecting skin from the environment. Cooler temperatures, wind and indoor heating all affect the skin, so I want to be intentional about keeping it hydrated and protected through the day. A final slugging step at night locks moisture in.

The night seal
Replenishing Balm
Botanicals hand harvested in Sicily and extracted with sound waves rather than solvents. As a last step it seals everything applied beneath it, which is exactly what dry indoor air asks for.

The night seal, lighter
ÂN-BALM Radiant Hydra-Balm
A concentrated, waxless balm that turns from a soft solid into a silky oil. It seals without the weight of a traditional occlusive, and it doubles as my massage medium.
The microbiome, year round

First step after cleansing
SIV Biome Balancing Serum
I am a big believer in supporting the microbiome year round, not only when the skin is compromised. This is the first step after cleansing for me, morning and night.
A fall reset is not throwing out your routine. It is paying attention to what your skin is asking for and giving it a little more of what it needs.

In the chair
Fall is the right time to address sun damage
Resurfacing and pigment work belong in the cooler months, once the heaviest exposure is behind you. Book at the Beverly Hills studio to plan it properly, or take a virtual consultation if you are not local.
